Rising tensions between China and the U.S.

Standard

Tensions escalate between China and America as China’s economic problems threaten to cause global market crash. China’s bizarre behavior like practicing air force drills and banning U.S. regulators are rising red flags with America. Some believe that China manipulated their currency. Some believe that almost all of the population in China from American corporations are doing well. But the facts are there, the economy has slowed down. Chinese corporations have been relying on overseas funding because of the low domestic credit. China has informed that they are going to slow down the purchase in American Treasury bonds which will cause us to raise our interest rates. America has accused and charged 5 Chinese army officers of cyber theft. U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder announced that men, all members of the People’s Liberation Army, maintained unauthorized access to victim computers to steal information from these entities that would be useful to the victims’ competitors in China. The tension between these two countries escalate into a full-scale incident.
Below is a link to a video talking more about China’s economy.

Tres Leches

Standard

Ingredients for the cake is: 6 large eggs, 2 cups of granulated sugar, 2 cups of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, 1/2 cup whole milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
Ingredients for the cream topping is: 1 14-ounce can of evaporated milk, 1 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk and 1 cup of heavy cream
Ingredients for icing is: 3 tablespoons of water, 3/4 cup of granulated sugar, 3 large egg whites, 1 ripe mango, peeled, seed removed, and thinly sliced, 1 ripe papaya, peeled, seeds removed, and thinly sliced

Directions

1. To make the cake: Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease and flour a 9 by 13-inch baking dish and set aside.

2. In the bowl of a mixer, beat the egg whites on low speed until soft peaks form. Add the sugar gradually with the mixer running and peak to stiff peaks. Add the egg yolks 1 at a time, beating well after the addition of each.

3. Sift together the flour and baking powder and add to the egg mixture, alternating with the milk. (Do this quickly so the batter does not lose volume.) Add the vanilla. Bake until golden, 25 minutes.

4. To make the cream topping: In a blender, combine the evaporated milk, condensed milk, and heavy cream and blend on high speed.

5. Remove the cake from the oven and while still warm, pour the cream mixture over it. Let sit and cool to room temperature. Cover and refrigerate until well chilled, at least 4 hours or overnight.

6. To make the icing: Once the cake is completely chilled, in a saucepan combine the water and sugar. Bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and stir to dissolve the sugar. Cook until the mixture reaches the soft ball stage, 235 to 240 degrees F. Remove from the heat. In a medium bowl, beat the egg whites to soft peaks. While beating, add the hot syrup in a stream. Beat until all the syrup has been added, the mixture cools, and a glossy icing forms.

7. To assemble: Remove the cake from the refrigerator and spread the icing evenly across the top. Arrange the mango and papaya slices over the top and serve.

Meteor Shower

Standard

Want to see a bunch of old dust light up the sky this weekend? An exquisite shower of stars dubbed the May Camelopardalid may put on a never-before-seen spectacle that has the potential to rival the Perseid meteor shower of August, according to NASA. Every year in August, the Earth passes through the orbit of a comet called Swift Tuttle, and we see meteors streaking across the night sky as pieces of debris from the comet enter the earth’s atmosphere at more than 100,000 mph and burn up. The Perseid can be seen during the last week of July or first week in August. If scientists’ most optimistic predictions come true, the meteor shower this weekend could be just as spectacular — if not, even better. There’s also the possibility it could be a complete bust. However, in the interest of not missing out on something potentially great, we have you covered on all the details.
What in the world is going on?
Earth is expected to come into contact with multiple streams of debris ejected from the faint comet 209P/LINEAR, which crosses into Earth’s orbit around the sun approximately once every five years. The streams of dust that could splash across the sky date back as far as the 18th century, according to a guide from NASA.
When to Watch
The shower is expected to be at its peak between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. CDT on Saturday, May 24, according to NASA.
Where to Watch
North America is a great spot to watch the cosmic shower, granted there are clear skies. NASA recommends finding a safe, dark location to lay beneath the stars. Why not find a nice patch of grass, bring a blanket and whip out a midnight snack to make the most of the moment?

meteor2 With a little prep, you can get great pictures of a meteor shower. Aiming your camera at the radiant can yield great results like this one, but having the Great Wall of China in your foreground does help.

Advancement of technology

Standard

Technology has progressed throughout the span of time for the better. As technology advances and becomes more evolved, humans are able to solve more problems that affect an abundant amount of the population. Aaron Smith from PewSearch Internet Project states that the American public anticipates that the coming half-century will be a period of profound scientific change, as inventions that were once confined to the realm of science fiction come into common usage. As technology progresses, so does our knowledge. We can solve the problems that prevents us from going to Mars or fixing global warming. These advancements to technology betters the lives of people that need it. For example, numerous of the NASA’s spinoffs has helped improve the lives of people that need it. One of the spinoff is Anti-icing System that prevents planes from icing when encountered with a harsh temperature. Another spinoff is a Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) which helps pump blood throughout the body from the heart until the person gets a new heart. These are just a few example of improved technology that helps the life of others.
